Building the Future of Supportive Housing
We are currently seeking property for our Vision Project. The Vision Project will allow Oasis Housing to serve many more people, including families with children impacted by the mental illness of their caregiver. The project is trauma-informed long-term or permanent supportive housing.
What the Vision Project Will Include
Affordable Housing Options
Studio to three-bedroom apartments at affordable prices.
Trauma-Informed Supportive Housing
Long-term or permanent supportive housing designed with care, stability, and safety in mind.
On-Site Supportive Services
Skills training and support services to help residents work toward long-term life improvement.
Meals and Job Training
A cafeteria for nutritious meals, with potential opportunities for job training.
Community Gathering Space
A comfortable gathering room with a computer, library corner, fireplace, big-screen TV, and seating.
Space for Children
A quiet corner where children can do homework.
Why This Project Matters
There is a huge “why” behind this project. So many social problems in today's society begin due to challenges in the family. Foster care programs, the juvenile justice system, intergenerational poverty, school absences, and dropout rates often have a beginning with a family in crisis. This is especially true when one or more of the adults in a family have a behavioral health issue.
The adult may not have the ability to adequately care for a child, either due to chronic poor mental health, lack of the necessary skills, or both. Many in the unsheltered community struggle with these issues. A supportive housing community can help. Help soon enough and strong enough can stop the cycle and build stronger adults and children. They deserve it.
